Harley-Davidson of Vallejo was established in 1989 when the previous owner, Thom McIlhattan acquired the old Greyhound Bus Depot and renovated it to become the Harley dealership for Solano, Sonoma, Contra Costa & Napa counties. Located in Historic Downtown Vallejo right on Old Highway 29, the building has a nostalgic feel that is reminiscent of the 1940's era. After 19 years of Service, the dealership is under new ownership and has continued to grow & adapt to the rise in motorcycle interest.
| In the last century, Vallejo has been the home of several Harley-Davidson dealerships. Some of these locations are still standing and operating as motorcycle repair & after market shops.
From the 1920's to the 70's, Nelson Bettencourt owned & operated several locations in which he also sold Schwinn Bicycles. In 1953 he moved to a small building at 420 Marin Street now known as Harry's H-D Cycle Repair. Harry Stanley took over the business in 1976 and still keeps antique motorcycles in the front window.

| California Performance Iron, a.k.a. CPI, located on Old Highway 37 was also a past Harley dealership. Opened in the late 70's, the late Ted Phelps owned and operated the dealership until it was sold in 1989 to Thom McIlhatten. Thom then moved the dealership to the location that it remains to this day.

| Mare Island Naval Shipyard is also a huge contributer to the presence of motorcycles in Vallejo and the surrounding cities. A huge percentage of sailors arriving and departing from Mare Island often ventured into town on motorcycles. Iron workers were also a familiar face among riders. During the construction of the Carquinez Bridge in 1927, iron workers rode Harley-Davidson motorcycles to and from working on the bridge.
